On January 31, 2022, Mohan Foundation’s Anudaan Making Transplants Affordable” team received an email from Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi requesting financial aid for Master Naitik Chugwani’s liver Transplant, suffering from chronic liver disease and in  urgent need for a  liver transplant.

Master Master Naitik Chugwani, age 9 hails from Udaipur, Rajasthan. His father works in an optical shop and is the only earning member in the family, getting a meagre salary ill equipped to afford a transplant in the family.

Naitik started getting sick and weak at the age of 7. His stomach started swelling and he would get recurrent fever. His parents took him to S.R.S Hospital, Udaipur for treatment. The doctors gave him medicines and informed the parents that there was nothing to worry about and that the sickness was due to the extreme hot weather. The parents went back home thinking Naitik would get better soon but instead his health condition progressively got worse.

Further tests at a bigger hospital revealed that the child was suffering from chronic liver disease and needed an urgent liver transplant. The parents were shocked and were worried for the huge cost of the transplant. Someone suggested Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi. After the parents shared their poor economic background with Dr. Vikram Kumar Singh, Paediatrician Liver Transplantation, Gastroenterology & Hepatology, he informed them about MOHAN Foundation’s Anudaan.

With the support from Anudaan, few other NGO’s and the hospital concession on transplant cost, Naitik successfully underwent a liver transplant on the February 10, 2022. MOHAN Foundation sanctioned Rs 2 Lakh for his liver transplant.

Naitik is slowly resuming a normal life. He has started his education. He is in fifth standard now. He is a bright student, aspiring to be a doctor. His parents are very happy and excited about his future.
