On January 17, 2022, MOHAN Foundation’s Anudaan team received an email from Sahyadri Super Specialty Hospital, Pune requesting financial aid for Mr. Ganesh Ghorpade, suffering from chronic kidney disease and requiring an urgent kidney transplant.
Mr. Ganesh Ghorpade, age 35.5 years hails from Indapur, Pune, Maharashtra. He belongs to a poor family. He was working as an executive in a private firm but had to quit due to his deteriorating health condition. The family was surviving on their savings and with support from relatives. It was hard for them to pay the exorbitant cost of kidney transplant.
In November 2020, Mr. Ganesh started falling sick frequently. He suffered from high blood pressure, irregular sleep and stomach pain. He was taken to Savarikar Multispeciality Hospital and underwent few tests. It was found that Ganesh was suffering from chronic kidney disease. The family was in shock after hearing this news.
Mr. Ganesh immediately started medication and was on dialysis till December, 2021. The family took him to Sahayadri Super Specialty Hospital, Pune for further treatment in January, 2022. The doctor informed the family that Mr. Ganesh was in need of an urgent kidney transplant in order to survive.
A couple of tests later, Mr. Ganesh’s mother found out that she was a perfect match for her son but that sigh of relief didn’t last long. The estimated cost of kidney transplant was Rs.11 lakh as it was going to be an ABO incompatible transplant.
After the family discussed about their poor economic situation, the doctors at Sahayadri Super Specialty Hospital, Pune informed them about MOHAN Foundation’s Anudaan. This information gave them a new hope. With support from Anudaan and few other NGOs, Mr. Ganesh successfully underwent a kidney transplant on February 02, 2022. MOHAN Foundation sanctioned Rs. 2 Lakh for his kidney transplant.
Both Ganesh and his mother are recovering well. Ganesh is very happy to receive a second chance to live and he is now excited for his future. “I am very much thankful to MOHAN Foundation, who saved my life.” Mr. Ganesh said. He wishes to be a successful business man in future.
“Lots of gratitude to MOHAN Foundation’s Anudaan team for saving my husband’s life with their financial support.”-Mrs. Monali Ganesh Ghorpade, Wife.
