MOHAN USA - Saving Lives through Organ Donation
We believe that no one should die awaiting an organ or have to buy one. Join us in supporting ethical organ donation and saving lives.
The Problem
In India, over 500,000 people die each year awaiting an organ transplant.
Many cannot afford the cost of surgery, medicines, or hospitalization associated with transplantation. Lack of social awareness and poor organ donation rates make organ availability extremely scarce. Illegal trafficking in organs thrives in this scenario.
Our Goals
MOHAN USA, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit organization with the following goals:
- To help patients in India who cannot afford organ transplants.
- To increase awareness about the societal good in donating organs after death.
- To promote ethical organ transplantation and curb organ trafficking.
Our Tactics
MOHAN USA aims to accomplish this by:
- Raising money for patients who cannot afford an organ transplant.
- Partnering and collaborating with NGOs in India and the US to increase awareness about organ donation.
- Conducting awareness campaigns, information sessions, and fundraisers to fulfill our mission.
Our Collaboration with MOHAN Foundation
One such NGO that we work with is MOHAN Foundation, which has been a pioneer in promoting ethical organ donation in India since 1997. They have facilitated thousands of successful organ transplantations, and their efforts have been credited with tripling the rate of deceased organ donations in Tamil Nadu, making it the highest in the nation.
Their ANUDAAN program raises money for patients who cannot afford an organ transplant. They conduct hundreds of teaching sessions every year to raise awareness about organ donation across India. They have been invited to share their expertise with other countries, including an agreement with the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK. Recently, they won the prestigious British Medical Journal South Asia Award for Healthcare Advocacy.
Our Belief
We believe that no one should die awaiting an organ, or have to buy one, or be reduced to poverty in their effort to survive the curse of terminal organ failure.
